Drilling in a Copper Mine

Images of mining from a book of 1873

One of the club members recently found a gem of a book containing a host of images relating to mining and tunnelling in the 1870s. You can see some of these images of mining by following this link or by clicking on the photograph.

If anyone knows the correct title of this book (the cover and frontispiece are missing), we'd like to hear from you.

"Keyhole" is a small 'BCA affiliated' caving club with members mainly in and around the M25 area. Club activities revolve mainly around 'sport' caving in all the UK caving areas, and also a number of active 'digs' - in particular Waterways Swallet in Staffordshire. Additionally, there is sometimes a club holiday (generally about 7 - 10 days caving abroad) which has taken club members to places such as France, Slovenia, Ireland and the USA.

You'll also find that some of the club members have other outdoor interests, such as hill walking, rock climbing, and snow boarding. Caving excursions are often a mixed bag of activities!
